When it comes to traditional home remodeling you almost always expect to see a very simple design plan. Traditional is quite the opposite of Modern living design and most of the floor plans you see in homes have very defined spaces. No, this is not a design where you are going to see a lot of open floor plans. Instead, each room will be closed off and specifically meant for what it was traditionally used for. Some people say that this type of style is very plain, but I guess by modern comparisons, it sort of us. It’s a typical when it comes to traditional design that you aren’t going to see a lot of chrome or steel materials, you also probably won’t see a lot of bright or bold colors. Instead this type of style is very functional, warm, inviting and cozy. If you like traditional design and you want some new ideas on traditional colors, styles or ways to make your home seem more traditional, continue to read the piece below for some ideas to help get you inspired to create your own little piece of heaven.
White Kitchens
If you talk to someone who likes Modern designs, a white kitchen is probably out of the question. But this is exactly the type of thing you will see in a traditional kitchen. Either you will see an all-white kitchen, or you might see primarily white colors or cream colors such as white cabinetry, white flooring and even white walls. Personally, I am more of a modern person, but I can appreciate the traditional aspects in a home. Still, I think white would be too stark, and I would choose creamy colors over just plain old white. White is often noted as being a blank canvas, which is great, but adding white to white to more white, is not for everyone. If you like traditional, but too much white is not your thing, you CAN add in certain features like bronze or copper hardware, knobs, faucets, etc.
Simple and Comfortable Bathrooms
If you like luxurious bathroom design with steam showers and things like heated wood floors, this is not your bag of chips. This is not even close to what you will find in a traditional bathroom. Instead, you are going to be seeing a lot of white colors, you will also be seeing a tub and shower combination, rather than having them separated. Traditional is less about technology and more about the creature comforts that you can bring into your bathroom.
Living Rooms - The Grand Rooms
When people talk about traditional ways of living, family is the first thing to comes to mind, so it should be no big surprise that family rooms or living rooms are used widely and are a common place for family get togethers. These rooms can also be called sitting rooms so you will find a lot of cool design features that are inviting and warm like grand fireplaces, cozy and comfortable seating, lots of windows to let in natural light, and maybe some window treatments like sheer curtains - all of these things are going to be in traditional or neutral colorings like white, cream, maybe some lighter colors like teal, purple, pink, green, etc. But, nothing bold or bright by any means.
Outside or Exterior Colors
When you look at a site like Houzz for traditional exterior paints, you will generally see the same or about the same thing over and over again. Most of these houses have a body (four walls) that are all painted white. The accents, things like trim and shutters are going to be painted black, and the door is going to be painted red - this is a very traditional paint scheme. Of course, you can throw the rule book out the window and include other colors for the accent and trim such as blues, grays, yellows, greens, etc. But, the main part of the house should or will mostly always be painted white.
